Do Cool Stuff
“All the easy stuff has already been done.” – Seth Godin
Today we have opportunities that no generation before us ever had. We have more resources, more influence, and the lowest cost of learning that the world has ever seen. Information is available everywhere.
That means two things. First, it means we can do more for less money and less time. This is the upside. It’s now easy to hire someone on the other side of the world. It’s easy to take your idea from a thought to a product. The downside to that is that all the easy stuff has already been done. The only things that people are willing to pay for today are hard things.
If you’re a graphic designer or web developer, you aren’t just competing with your college classmates or neighbors, you’re competing against people all over the world. There are thousands of people that can do what you do, and many of them are willing to do it for less. In order to stand out, you need to be the best. You need to tackle the hard things.
The first step to being the best is doing cool stuff. Don’t just sit around. Try something new. Push yourself to do things you’ve never done before. Do hard stuff. Do cool stuff.
