Being Better Marketers
As a marketer, I’m always interested in learning about the new and exciting trends in the industry. Sometimes this means I spend way too much time reading about marking and not enough time actually doing marketing.
In fact, this is one of the fundamental problems with many marketing positions today. Marketers spend a lot of time talking about things, and looking at what other people are doing, but very few people spend a significant amount of time actually doing marketing.
Why is that?
I think it’s because marketing is hard work. It requires genuine creativity. It requires you to think outside the box. Good marketing can be risky. It might fail. In fact, it probably will fail. But its better to fail trying to do something than not trying at all.
Perhaps one of the biggest challenges for many marketers is getting businesses to take risks with them. But before you can convince someone to take a risk with you, you have to be willing to take it yourself. So go ahead, spend more time taking risks. Spend more time actually marketing.
